Over the last four years ShareIn have been on a growth journey. This has been possible because of the great people that work here, they show up every day and give it their best – and I love that!
We’re in the business of making software. The investment and payment tools we have created are used by some of the largest direct investment platforms in the UK and we continue to grow our customer base. But this only happens because we are able to come together as a team and build it.
All that we do as a team happens because of who we are. ShareIn is made up of people from many nations and a wide range of ages. This diversity is a true strength. Diversity is a source of profitability in the long run so there’s a little bit of self interest here, but jobs are offered on merit. The true benefit of diversity that we see on a daily basis is the range of experience brought to the conversation, to problem solving, to innovative ideas; it directly informs our product development activity.
Everyone at ShareIn is a member of a product focused team; investment, payments and compliance. Teams are made up of developers, a product owner and subject matter experts. They follow SCRUM practices with planning meetings, demo days and fortnightly sprints. We’ve seen a step change in productivity since adopting this approach throughout the business. The greater visibility of work to be done helps us prioritize and manage what needs to be done. It’s also good for team members to feel part of a team that is demonstrably delivering real value to customers.
Our technical heritage is the Microsoft stack. Today we still rely on .NET for our main business logic but we’ve branched into vue.js for the frontend on our newer products. Our approach is to use tools that we enjoy working with as well as ones that we’re confident will deliver reliable results. These initiatives often come from developers, we encourage that enthusiasm and see the results on our product quality.
We all work out of our Edinburgh office, perhaps going against the current trend and popularity of remote work. But we find that being together in one place is an important part of our ability to deliver work to customers. As we continue to grow this approach might change – we are always trying to improve how we operate.
ShareIn is a growing company. We’re always happy to receive speculative applications from good people who aspire to do great work. We value intelligence, integrity and ambition. See our latest vacancies on our jobs page.
